Football Week 7: Life is Good if You're a Raider or a Hilltopper

All signs point to wins for Glenbard South and Glenbard West this weekend.

As the regular season winds down, both Glen Ellyn high school football teams are marching toward what appears to be another victory. Here's a look at Week 7.

Glenbard West vs. Proviso West

The Hilltoppers of Glenbard West are charging into this Saturday's game against Proviso West powered up by a big 20-14 win last weekend against Oak Park-River Forest (5-1, 3-1 WSC Silver), and some serious Homecoming energy

Last weekend's game was a battle to the end for the Hilltoppers, who handed the Huskies their first loss of the season. It was arguably their toughest matchup yet this year.

Proviso West (2-4, 0-3) will have their work cut out for them Saturday, coming off a loss at home to York Oct. 4.

The Hilltoppers, who have lost only one conference game since 2008, are favored to win. According to MaxPreps.com, they are ranked #10 in the state, #283 nationally.

Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, in Glen Ellyn.

Here's the rest of Glenbard West's schedule; only two games are left in the regular season:

Glenbard South vs. Fenton

All signs lead to a win for the undefeated Raiders this Friday at home against Fenton (4-2, 1-0).

The Fenton Bison tallied a big 42-7 win last weekend against Ridgewood High School, but they will be coming into Raider territory on Friday, against a team that has showed no mercy to its opponents all season. Last weekend, the Raiders pummeled the winless Bulldogs of Riverside-Brookfield 49-14 in Riverside.

Game time is 7:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, in Glen Ellyn.

The Raiders will spend the rest of the regular season on the road.
