Rep. Pihos to Sponsor “Honor a Veteran” Event on October 4 at Glenbard South High School

State Representative Sandy Pihos (R-Glen Ellyn) is sponsoring an “Honor a Veteran” event on Friday, October 4th at Glenbard South High School from 7:00-9:00 PM.

Local veterans and their families will be treated to free entertainment and refreshments, and each veteran will receive a certificate of appreciation from Pihos. “This is just a small token of my tremendous appreciation for the work these brave men and women have done for our country,” said Pihos. “I hope we have a great turn out.”

Families that would like to have a veteran recognized at the event are requested to either call Pihos’ office at (630) 858-8855 or email the office at community@sandrapihos.com with the veteran’s name, branch of service and the number of years of service.

Entertainment will be provided by “The Legacy Girls,” a trio of women who pay musical tribute to those who have served their country in the military. Formerly known as “Tres Bella,” the trio will take veterans and their families on a trip down memory lane with a musical review featuring songs from the fifties and sixties.

People are also encouraged to bring their worn out or torn American flags to the event. A Flag Retirement Box will be available, and the collected flags will be taken to the American Legion for proper and dignified retirement.

“This is an evening where we can pay tribute to those who sacrificed a lot so that the rest of us could be safe and enjoy our freedoms,” said Pihos. “I am pleased to provide them with a relaxing evening of entertainment and fun.”
