Glen Ellyn Resident Shares Inauguration Experience

Lora Bak supported the President and was in attendance at the inauguration earlier this week.

The decision was made in October. If President Barack Obama was re-elected to office, Glen Ellyn resident Lora Bak was determined to attend the inauguration. Her sister and niece attended his first inauguration. And, Bak was in Grant Park on election night in 2008. She didn’t want to let the opportunity to be a part of history pass by the second time around. Bak was an Obama supporter and during the election campaign she volunteered time with the campaign working the phone banks at the DuPage County election headquarters in Lombard. “I wanted to be sure I had the opportunity to attend this [inauguration] as you don't get many chances like this in life,” she said. 2007 Glenbard West Graduate Performing in Presidential Inauguration

Staff Sgt. Trevor Mowry will be part of the "President's Own" United States Marine Band, performing at the inauguration Jan. 21.

A Glen Ellyn native, and a 2007 graduate of Glenbard West High School, will have a prominent place at the Presidential Inauguration when it takes place Jan. 21 in Washington D.C. Staff Sgt. Trevor Mowry will be performing in the “President’s Own” United States Marine Band in the 57th Inauguration of the President of the United States. Mowry, now a resident of Alexandria, Va., is the co-principal oboe and will perform with the U.S. Marine Corps Band during the swearing-in ceremony, according to a news release from the U.S. Marine Band. In addition to performing during the swearing-in, Mowry will be marching with the Marine Band as it leads the second division down Pennsylvania Avenue.
