UPDATE A winter weather advisory remains in place until 6 a.m. Wednesday for DuPage County. --------------- Another winter storm is heading straight for us if the predictions are accurate. Tuesday a winter weather advisory goes into effect, continuing until 9 p.m., according to weather.com. Snow is expected to begin Tuesday afternoon, possibly mixed with sleet. The snow may become heavy at times and continuing through the afternoon, according to weather.com. The snow should taper by evening. More than 6 inches of snow are possible throughout the area and strong gusting winds of up to 40 mph are also expected, according to the forecast. Aside from the cold, we haven't had much snow this winter. So, if the predictions are on target, let's document what may be the worst snow storm of the season.

As you likely know by now, what could be the heaviest snow of the year to date is on the way to Glen Ellyn and the Chicago area, set to arrive Thursday night. Patch has The Weather Channel's app for following the storm, including radar animations of the progress. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for DuPage County. The advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday. Accumulations of three to six inches of snow are possible. Ice and wind gusts are possible. Keep checking back, and be safe!
Considering we haven't had much snow at all, any amount could seem "big."

As you head off to work Thursday, make a note, the weather is set to change, if predictions are accurate. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in DuPage County from 9 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday. Snow is expected to develop Thursday evening and continue into Friday, the NWS said Wednesday afternoon. The snow may mix with light freezing drizzle or rain Friday morning, making for slick travel. Weather Service issues a flood watch for the Chicago area; up to 2 inches of rain expected in some areas.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Cook, DuPage and Kane counties, and virtually the entire Chicago area, from 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, until 4 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30. Showers and thunderstorms will continue to spread across Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana this afternoon, with rain persisting through the night. Precipitation of 1.5 to 2 inches is likely, with some areas receiving more. "Much of the area continues to have frozen ground, with only the top few inches of soil having thawed," according to the weather service. Rain is predicted to turn to snow and quickly freeze-up causing icy conditions making travel difficult Wednesday night into Thursday.
A winter storm is expected to blow its way into Glen Ellyn late Wednesday bringing with it the winter weather we have avoided so far this winter. The storm is expected to start with rain, which will intensify as it makes its way into the area, turning into snow late Wednesady night, according to the National Weather Service. Snow accumulation is also expected Thursday in the Chicago area. While it’s still uncertain how much snow will blanket the area, the National Weather Service is predicting winds will become strong Thursday afternoon into the evening, with gusts of about 45-50 mph expected. National Weather Service issues severe thunderstorm warning until 4:45 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for DuPage County until 4:45 p.m. Thursday, July 5. At 3:36 p.m., radar indicates a severe thunderstorm capable of producing hail the size of ping-pong balls and winds more than 60 mph. The storm was located near Wheeling and is moving south at 15 mph.

No warning has been issued just a "special weather statement."
The National Weather Service in Chicago issued a special weather statement for today's strong thunderstorms. At 9:41 a.m. the NWS doppler radar indicated a strong line of thunderstorms extending from Glencoe to Lisle. This storm is moving east at 35 mph. According to the NWS, winds could reach up to 50 mph and brief heavy downpours are possible. Gusty winds may cause small branches to be blown down, and the NWS is advising residents to seek shelter in a sturdy structure until these storms have passed. Impacted Areas: Lombard, Lisle, Bensenville, Chicago, Northbrook, Glen Ellyn, Addison, York Center, Woodridge, Winnetka, Wilmette, Westmont.
