Sheriff: Lombard Man Threatened "Columbine Type" Courthouse Shooting

A man awaits extradition in Denver, CO, after posting threats of extreme violence at the DuPage County Courthouse to Facebook.

Daniel McDade, 31, of Lombard is charged with two felonies after threatening to do a "Columbine type" shooting at the DuPage County courthouse in Wheaton, DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba announced Monday. Sheriff's detectives said they started investigating after a citizen sent a tip that McDade was threatening courthouse employees and "extreme violence" when he returned to the courthouse for a drug test scheduled for April 4. According to a news release from the sheriff's office, McDade, on bail for a DUI, posted threatening and "disturbing" messages on Facebook after he received notice of the April 4 court appearance. He posted that he would shoot several people including children, police and public officials in a “Columbine” type …

Court Watch: College of DuPage Beating Victim Must Refile Lawsuit

Here's what we're keeping an eye on at the DuPage County Courthouse.

DUPAGE: Glen Ellyn: A man who sued College of DuPage over injuries he sustained in a 2010 on-campus attack has been given additional time to refile his lawsuit after it was essentially thrown out in November. William Kendrick filed a lawsuit last year claiming the school and its police should have prevented him from being jumped by a group of non-students. COD successfully argued for dismissal on grounds it was protected under state immunity laws, and that Kendrick failed to make a premises liability claim against the school. Kendrick has until early next month to refile. A hearing is scheduled for March 28. Naperville: One man indicted in connection to several area robberies, including at least two in Naperville, has pleaded not guilty. …

DUPAGE: Downers Grove: - Eric Gilford, who has pleaded guilty to murdering his wife and unborn child, sentencing is set to begin on Aug. 16, although it will not finish up until next month.  - Theresa Carlquist, accused of stealing money from a local youth football program, returns to court on Aug. 17. They have been trying to nail down a possible restitution amount for a plea, but that has not happened yet.  Elmhurst: - Cheryl Luchetta's returns to court for a status hearing in her attempted murder case on Aug. 17. DUPAGE: Darien:  -Johnny Borizov, charged in triple murder of his girlfriend's family, is in court July 11 for a status hearing. Most of his recent appearances have focused on the defense that co-defendant Jacob Nodarse acted on his own. DUPAGE COUNTY: Burr Ridge: - John Gilbert, charged with 2009 murder of Jason Dragos, returns to court June 23 for a motion hearing on a handful of issues, including whether his defense can generally claim someone else killed Dragos and whether prosecutors can tell jurors about an alleged workers comp scam by Gilbert in the 1990s.  Darien: - Patricia Williams and Pamela Johnson are scheduled for sentencing at 1:30 on June 20 in courtroom 4000 on their theft convictions relating to their former mortgage company. Their plea did not come with a sentencing recommendation, so both are going to receive some prison time.  Downers Grove: - Randy Caudill (official misconduct) is scheduled for a June 22 status hearing.  Elmhurst: - The Connell trio …

Glen Ellyn Resident Pleads Guilty to Stealing $46K

Lisa Van Bogget will face a sentencing hearing July 7.

A Glen Ellyn resident entered a blind plea of guilty to stealing more than $46,000 from her former employer.  Lisa Van Bogget, 43, of Glen Ellyn plead guilty to theft, one count of online theft and one count of official misconduct after stealing funds from the village of Westmont.  Van Bogget was Westmont's village finance director from Nov. 15, 2007 to Aug. 24, 2010, when she wrote unauthorized checks from the village's account to pay for her own personal expenses, which include credit card bills.   Her scheme unraveled when village officials uncovered an unauthorized check Van Boggest wrote to herself.
