Winter Storm Watch Tuesday; Track the Storm

If predictions are accurate we could see up to 6 inches of snow in DuPage County Tuesday.

UPDATE A winter weather advisory remains in place until 6 a.m. Wednesday for DuPage County.  --------------- Another winter storm is heading straight for us if the predictions are accurate. Tuesday a winter weather advisory goes into effect, continuing until 9 p.m., according to weather.com. Snow is expected to begin Tuesday afternoon, possibly mixed with sleet. The snow may become heavy at times and continuing through the afternoon, according to weather.com. The snow should taper by evening. More than 6 inches of snow are possible throughout the area and strong gusting winds of up to 40 mph are also expected, according to the forecast. Weather Alert: Ice Storm Predicted Sunday

Freezing rain mixed with sleet is expected to arrive in the area Sunday morning. A freezing rain advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday night.

UPDATED: Jan. 27, 9:50 a.m. The deep freeze is on its way and we aren’t talking about temperatures. A freezing rain advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. Sunday morning until 4 p.m. Sunday evening for DuPage County. Ice in excess of a quarter of an inch is possible, according to the National Weather Service. A winter storm watch was initially in effect, but the weather service updated its weather outlook Saturday afternoon. The National Weather Service is predicting freezing rain mixed with sleet will arrive Sunday morning and continue throughout the day until the evening when temperatures begin to rise and the sleet turns to rain.
