Opening Soon: Blackberry Market Bringing Fast, Fresh, Casual Dining Downtown

Blackberry Market, which is expected to open in mid-December, will offer fresh, homemade food and a market space.

While Anna Davidson was working for a catering firm in Geneva several years ago, the seeds were planted. One day, she wanted to have her own restaurant/catering business. On and off for years, she had been thinking about opening her own restaurant, but either the right space wasn’t available or the timing didn’t seem right. Then, after quitting her job over the summer and taking time to re-evaluate things, she began to consider opening a restaurant in the former Bells & Whistles location in downtown Glen Ellyn. A restaurant consulting firm she had hired to evaluate her catering business agreed the location was prepped and ready for a new business. “We always had the vision and were waiting for the right place and time,” she said. Open for Business: Olive 'n Vinnie's Opens, Oberweis Moves Ahead with New Concept

A new store catering to cooks has opened its doors downtown. Meanwhile, Oberweis continues to move forward with its plans to relocate it's Glen Ellyn store.

Cooks looking for special olive oils and vinegars with an infusion of flavor now have a new option in Glen Ellyn. Olive ‘n Vinnie’s Market has opened it’s downtown location. Gary and Karen Evensen, who live in Glen Ellyn, own the shop. This is their third location. The couple have two Olive 'n Vinnie's Market shops in Wisconsin. The announcement that the store was opened was made on the Downtown Glen Ellyn Alliance website Monday. Olive ‘n Vinnie’s allows customers to taste a variety of oils and vinegars from around the world before purchasing. It offers extra-virgin olive oil imported from 14 countries around the world, as well as more than 20 types of balsamic vinegars from Mondena, Italy, said Gary Evensen. I can say that they are very knowledgeable about the product and know how to blend the oils and vinegars to create really interesting fusions. I liked what I tried.   more ›
