Santa Visists Glen Ellyn

Glen Ellyn residents were invited on Saturday to visit with Santa and spend time with their families for a holiday breakfast.

Saturday, Dec. 4, Santa came all the way down from the North Pole just to visit Glen Ellyn. He brought along books, candy canes and cheer. The festivities kicked off at 8:30 a.m. when Santa made his first appearance at the Lake Ellyn Boathouse. Families from all over the area were invited to have breakfast and see Santa. Jeannie Robinson, Recreation Specialist for the Glen Ellyn Park District, was in charge of the event. "Usually I set up everything the night before," said Robinson. "I have a lot of help from friends and the preschool teachers." Other people who helped work the event were very excited as well. Santa Lights Tree at Glen Ellyn Holiday Walk

Glen Ellyn residents turned out in mass to do some night shopping in downtown Glen Ellyn and to watch Santa light the tree on Main Street.

Even with temperatures in the low 30s and a wind chill that made it feel even colder, residents of Glen Ellyn suited up in their warmest clothes and headed out to watch Santa light the tree on Main Street and do some shopping. The theme for this year's Holiday Walk was Stars of Wonder, and it was apparent in the designs of the store windows along Main Street. Window displays readily made use of stars and holiday lights, and the whole downtown twinkled. Glen Ellyn Sweet Shoppe, 550 Crescent Blvd., was handing out delicious Ghirardelli peppermint and white chocolate treats and inviting visitors inside to browse the candy aisles.
