State Pension Reform Topic of League of Women Voters Event Thursday

State Rep. Sandra Pihos will present a program on pension reform in the state of Illinois during an event at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Ellyn Boat House.

Pension reform in the state of Illinois will be the topic kicking off the League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn’s program year. Thursday night, State Rep. Sandra Pihos will be discussing pension reform, which is currently being considered in the state legislature. The event will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the Lake Ellyn Boat House. Everyone is invited to attend. Regardless of whether the legislature enacts legislation or the state fails to act on pension reform, the results will have significant impact on the state’s finances and budget, according to the League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn. Governor Quinn Signs Law Increasing Government Transparency

Gov. Pat Quinn was in DuPage County Thursday to sign legislation co-sponsored by Rep. Sandra Pihos and Sen. Kirk Dillard.

A bill to create more transparency in state government, which Rep. Sandra Pihos (R-Glen Ellyn) co-sponsored was signed into law Thursday. Gov. Pat Quinn signed the legislation, which strengthens the Illinois Open Meetings Act, Thursday during a special ceremony at the DuPage County building council chambers. DuPage County Chairman Dan Cronin, along with Pihos and the bill’s co-sponsor Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) attended the event. “This new law will require all entities subject to the Open Meetings Act to provide a certain level of specificity when creating their agendas,” Pihos said in a news release. House Bill 4687 requires public bodies conducting a public meeting to ensure that a copy of the meeting notice and agenda is available …

March 2012 Primary Results: Pihos Remains Unopposed in 48th House District General Election

Current 42nd State Representative Sandra Pihos secured her spot on the general election ticket. A Democratic candidate is yet to step forth.

Rep. Sandra Pihos (R-42), ran uncontested in the March primary for the newly-drawn 48th District. The district includes Glen Ellyn, Lombard, and portions of Lisle and Wheaton. Pihos has served as a state representative since 2003.  Read her biography on her 42nd District website. The Democratic Party of Illinois still has the opportunity to appoint candidates for vacant positions, including the 48th House District, according to the DuPage County Board of Elections. No candidates have been announced at this time. Pihos Easily Holds On To State House Seat

Republican incumbent tops challenger, Kathryn Vlahos, in a landslide she credits to a quality relationship with her community.

State Rep. Sandra Pihos (R-42nd) is on her way back to the Illinois House of Representatives in Springfield. In a win over Democratic challenger Kathryn Vlahos, Pihos accrued 64.17 percent of the vote. Her 22,954 votes nearly doubled Vlahos' 12,816. Glen Ellyn makes up a significant portion of District 42, which Pihos has represented since first being elected in 2002. "I have good outreach with the people," Pihos said, explaining her success in the district. "I'm responsive, I return my phone calls, I turn no groups away from conversation; I try to be educated on all sides of an issue before I go to Springfield and make a vote."
