Jason Logsdon, 41, of the 900 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, was charged with four armed robberies in DuPage County. He was charged earlier in the week in Cook County. He faces up to 120 years in prison.
An Evanston man already charged in 11 business and hair salon robberies in the Cook County was charged Friday with robbing a Glen Ellyn Great Clips, along with three other businesses in Lombard. Jason Logsdon, 41, of the 900 block of Chicago Avenue, Evanston, was charged with allegedly robbing four DuPage County businesses in the past two months, according to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin. He was charged with four counts of armed robbery, each a Class X Felony punishable by up to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. An investigation has been launched to try and determine the circumstances of the death of a fetus found recently in a dumpster, officials said.
The body of a dead fetus was found recently inside a dumpster at the Yorktown Mall. Officials are now trying to determine the circumstances that led to the fetus' death and subsequent dumping at the mall in Lombard. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, Lombard Police Chief Ray Byrne and Glendale Heights Police Chief Mike Marron have launched an investigation into the death, DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office spokesman Paul Darrah said Tuesday. Officials did not disclose when the fetus was found or an age of the fetus. ABC7 is reporting that the Glendale Heights police said a teen delivered the fetus and dumped it Saturday at the mall. David Garmoe pleaded guilty Friday and was sentenced to serve five years in prison for stealing more than $260,000 from the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co.
A former volunteer firefighter with the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co. was sentenced Friday to five years in jail for stealing more than $260,000 over the course of several years from the fire company. David Garmoe, 56, of the 600 block of Prairie Avenue, Glen Ellyn entered a guilty Friday morning. He pleaded guilty to theft in excess of $100,000, a Class 1 Felony, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office. Judge Daniel Guerin handed down the sentence. Garmoe was arrested in May 2011 and charged with allegedly stealing more than $260,000 between 2004 and early 2011 from the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co., Glen Ellyn Patch reported. Introduced at the recommendation of DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, House Bill 5265 allows for the felony prosecution of people who attempt to lure older children into their motor vehicle while the child is traveling to or from school. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin charged Kevin McCartney of Wheaton with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a death. According to the prosecution, McCartney, 21, attended a party Oct. 5, 2009 with Gregory Hoctor. According to Berlin’s office, McCartney and Hoctor, 18, left the party in McCartney's vehicle. However, McCartney allegedly returned to the party alone and claimed that Hoctor stole his car. Wheaton Police found McCartney's vehicle crashed into a tree on Durfee Road in Wheaton with Hoctor still inside. Hoctor later died from injuries sustained in the accident. Operation Love targets 42 deadbeat parents who owe a combined $2 million in child support payments.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin marked Valentine's Day not with sending candies and flowers, but by deploying teams of investigators and sheriff’s deputies to round up deadbeat dads. Speaking at a Monday afternoon press conference, Berlin announced Operation Love, an effort to apprehend some of the biggest deadbeat dads in DuPage County. The operation is a joint effort between Berlin’s office and the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, targeting 42 deadbeats who owe more than $2 million in unpaid child support. While he spoke about the efforts to arrest these parents, Berlin stood next to a display showing photos of the 32 most egregious deadbeats owing nearly $1.5 million, including one Chicago man who owes more than $219,000. “…
