Court Watch: Sexual Exploitation Trial Delayed; Man Pleaded Guilty to Robbery; Prosecutors Seek to Try Man in Absentia

A look back at some of the recent court dispositions for cases in DuPage County.

The third of four men charged in a July 7-Eleven robbery has pleaded guilty for his part in the incident, records show. Antwan Jones agreed to a deal with prosecutors, who dropped several other counts, but still faces sentencing on the remaining robbery charge. He is scheduled to return to court in January. In the last two months, two co-defendants - Antonio Finley and Steven Gayden - pleaded guilty to robbery. Both were sentenced to prison time with recommendations for a prison boot camp. Gayden is housed at the Sheridan Correctional Center, while Finley has not yet been assigned. A four man, DeShaun Wilson, is scheduled for a Dec. 12 hearing. Despite Frustration, Hunt for Wheaton Bandit Continues

The statute of limitations is running out on previous banks robberies.

Federal and local authorities have slightly more than six months to bring a notorious bank robber to justice before the statute of limitations runs out on his crimes. The criminal, dubbed the “Wheaton Bandit” due to the bulk of his crimes happening in Wheaton, first struck January 14, 2002 robbing a bank in the 200 block of West Loop Road. Almost one year later on January 3, 2003, the bandit struck another branch in the 200 block of West Street. Less than two weeks later on Jan. 11, the bandit robbed his original bank target, according tobandittrackerchicago.com. In all, the serial bank robber allegedly robbed 16 banks in the western suburbs—seven of which were in Wheaton and four in Glen Ellyn. The bandit was known to rob the same banks …
