Glen Ellyn Post Offices Set Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve Hours

Downtown Wheaton post office will open at its regular time and close at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Most post offices, including Glen Ellyn's, will shorten retail lobby hours and close at 12 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24 and New Year's Eve, Monday, Dec. 31.  For those who need to send mail out last minute, you can drive nearby to Wheaton where last-minute senders will have a bit more time on both days. The Wheaton Post Office, 122 Wheaton Ave., will open at its regular time at 7 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, according to a message from the United States Postal Service. The post office at 46 Danada Square West will open at the regular time and close at 1 p.m. on both days. Holiday 2012: Postal Service Mail By Dates to Remember; Sunday Post Office Hours

The US Postal Service anticipates this will be its busiest holiday shipping season. Find out when items should be mailed by and where you can mail items on select Sundays in December.

The holiday rush is about to set in. Along with waiting in line to buy gifts at stores, the lines can be even longer at the post office as gift givers mail cards and packages to friends and family across the county and world. In Glen Ellyn, residents have an extra day to mail packages from the Post Office. The US Post Office on DuPage Boulevard will be open on Sunday — Dec. 2, 9 and 16, said USPS Central Illinois District Manager, Peter Allen. The post office at 757 Du Page Blvd. will be open on Dec. 2, 9 and 16 from 12 - 4 p.m. In addition to the Glen Ellyn location, the post office at 122 N.
