Newton Avenue Fire Leaves Home Uninhabitable

Glen Ellyn Fire Officials responded to a fire Monday morning in the 200 block of Newton Avenue. Officials said family and friends were assisting the family.

A house fire on Newton Avenue Monday morning has left a home uninhabitable but caused no injuries, fire officials said. The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co. responded to the fire in the 200 block of Newton Avenue at 7:03 a.m. and Chief Jeff Bucola was first to arrive. Upon arrival Bucola found flames showing through the roof of the residence, said Craig Eldridge, public information officer for the fire company. Crews from Glenside, Wheaton and York Center all helped the fire company put out the fire quickly, Eldridge said. Residents were able to safely evacuate and there were no injuries to the residents or fire fighters, he said. In addition, crews from Lombard, Carol Stream and Lisle-Woodridge helped provide station coverage as crews …
