Made in Italy Trattoria, 476 Forest Ave. in downtown Glen Ellyn is hiring servers who know about Italian ingredients, according to a post on the restaurant's Facebook page. Made in Italy Trattoria will take applications in person from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 25, with plans to open next week, according to the post. The food at Made in Italy Trattoria has a "rustic feel," with simple ingredients and traditional, flavorful cooking techniques, according to the restaurant's page. Opening Soon: Downtown Fast Food at The Stand

The restaurant is expected to open sometime in March if construction goes as planned.

Diners looking to get a quick bite to eat will soon have a new option in downtown Glen Ellyn. The Stand will be opening sometime this spring and it is anticipated the restaurant, which is under construction now, could be open sometime in March. The location, at 542 Crescent Blvd.—the former site of Express Press—is under construction and getting some major renovations, said Lisa Demos, who owns the business and will be managing the restaurant’s operations. “Before I was married, I managed an Olive Garden so I have that to go back on,” she said. “We came about [the idea], I decided it was time for me to do something for the community and my family.” After picking the brains of her family, they decided the restaurant would be a good option. …

Glen Ellyn Meatheads Grand Opening Aug. 17

Meatheads will host two days of private fundraising events benefitting the Glen Ellyn Golden Eagles Football, Chicago Young Americans Hockey and Glen Ellyn Park District Soccer.

Submarine sandwiches may be the big lunch item today, but next week it will probably be burgers. Jersey Mike’s opens today in Glen Ellyn, but it isn’t the only restaurant opening its doors in town. Meatheads will hold its grand opening on Aug. 17 at its location at 549 E. Roosevelt Road. Two days prior to the grand opening, the burger joint will host private fundraising events for three local groups, Glen Ellyn Golden Eagles Football, Chicago Young Americans Hockey and Glen Ellyn Park District Soccer.
