The Village of Glen Ellyn has partnered with Meatheads for a fundraising event.
Eat a burger. Plant a tree. That is the goal of a fundraising program happening in town this weekend. The Village of Glen Ellyn in its first public-private partnership has teamed up with Meatheads for a fundraising event. If you have a taste for a burger and plan to make a stop at Meatheads this weekend, Glen Ellyn will be a little greener as a result. Meatheads will donate 10 percent of its net sales on Saturday and Sunday to the Village of Glen Ellyn’s tree replacement program. Meatheads will host two days of private fundraising events benefitting the Glen Ellyn Golden Eagles Football, Chicago Young Americans Hockey and Glen Ellyn Park District Soccer.
Submarine sandwiches may be the big lunch item today, but next week it will probably be burgers. Jersey Mike’s opens today in Glen Ellyn, but it isn’t the only restaurant opening its doors in town. Meatheads will hold its grand opening on Aug. 17 at its location at 549 E. Roosevelt Road. Two days prior to the grand opening, the burger joint will host private fundraising events for three local groups, Glen Ellyn Golden Eagles Football, Chicago Young Americans Hockey and Glen Ellyn Park District Soccer. The preview events are private and allow the employees to have some experience serving the public before the restaurant opens, while also raising funds for the groups, said Joe Sanders, Meatheads marketing manager. A new fast-casual burger place is coming to Glen Ellyn.
A new place to chow down on burgers, shakes and french fries is coming to Glen Ellyn. Meatheads is a family restaurant with four other Chicago land locations, providing all-natural ingredients that are never frozen, according to the restaurant's website. Meatheads is expected to open in August on Roosevelt Road across from Potbelly's in the old mattress store. Tom Jednorowicz said Meatheads is more than your average burger restaurant, which are typically filled with freezers and processed foods. "We strive to provide a dining occassion," said spokesman Tom Jednorowicz.
