Glen Ellyn Patch welcomes letters to the editor. Letters may be submitted to Local Editor Mary Ann Lopez at maryl@patch.com.
Property values in Glen Ellyn are soaring! At least they are for our family. Over the past year, our teenage daughter, Genevieve Cipriano, was diagnosed with cancer, went through months of chemo, had her leg and hip amputated and is now recovering and back in school. That is the naked truth, the ugly story and the genesis of my opinion on property values. Throughout this difficult time this wonderful community cared for our family, kept our spirits up, felt our pain, supported us financially and did so many unbelievably kind things that we are still in awe. There is no way to adequately thank everyone, many of whom we do not know. Money was raised at the schools by the kids and by the teachers. Hundreds of people turned out at the …

Glen Ellyn Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor emailed to Local Editor Mary Ann Lopez at maryl@patch.com. Please note in subject lines the message is a Letter to the Editor. ------------ Letter to the Editor: Why has Peter Roskam refused to debate his challenger, Leslie Coolidge for the IL 6th congressional seat? Perhaps he can’t defend his record. A record of extreme ideology and partisan gridlock that was harmful to our economic recovery. A record of putting pledges to lobbyists (Grover Norquist) above duty to constituents. Peter Roskam voted twice for the “Ryan Budget”. A draconian budget which cuts necessary programs, including veterans’ benefits and FEMA. A budget that expands corporate welfare for Super PAC …

Glen Ellyn Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor e-mailed to Local Editor Mary Ann Lopez at maryl@patch.com. Please note in subject lines the message is a Letter to the Editor. ------------ I LIKE CONGRESSMAN PETER ROSKAM! I like Peter because he is such a likeable man, and he gets my vote. He has earned it! He is a younger man who has made his mark during his two terms as Congressman. That's why I like Peter Roskam. It is vitally important that he be reelected to the office of United States Congressman. John Oldenburger Wheaton

Glen Ellyn Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor emailed to Local Editor Mary Ann Lopez at maryl@patch.com. Please note in subject line the e-mail is a Letter to the Editor. ------------ To the editor: I was pleased to see that Peter Roskam was endorsed by both the Daily Herald and the Chicago Tribune to be our representative here in the Sixth Congressional District. Both note that Roskam can help solve the economic issues of the day and will be an influential voice at the table for our district by, for one thing, focusing on rewriting our cumbersome federal tax code. I hope that you’ll join these endorsements by voting for Peter Roskam on November 6th. Let’s send a man of integrity and honesty back to Washington. Carl A. …

Glen Ellyn Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor emailed to Local Editor Mary Ann Lopez at maryl@patch.com. Please note in subject line the e-mail is a Letter to the Editor. ------------ To the Editor: I recently learned that I am a part of the newly redrawn 6th Congressional district in which Congressman Peter Roskam is running for reelection. Congressman Roskam is a fiscal conservative and a firmbeliever that private industry job creation is the key to the reversal of President Obama’s current policies that favor higher tax rates and even heavier federal spending. Roskam also favors the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and will work in a bipartisan manner to fix the real problems in our healthcare system. He is fully…

Glen Ellyn Patch welcomes letters to the editor. Letters may be submitted to Local Editor Mary Ann Lopez at maryl@patch.com.
Dear Editor, As a graduate student with friends out of work, I hear gloomy reports every day about our stagnant 8 percent unemployment rate, and the crucial need for jobs and economic growth. I recently learned that Peter Roskam, a Congressman running for reelection in the Sixth Congressional District, has been instrumental in passing several free trade agreements that have and will continue to help businesses here and across the country. Peter Roskam has traveled to three countries in support of pro-export free trade agreements with South Korea, Panama and Columbia, and played a leading role in building support for them in Washington, which led to them being signed into law last October. Roskam understands that opening trade markets …

Milton Township Trustee Marty Keller responds to recent claims about Milton Township government. Glen Ellyn Patch welcomes letters to the editor. Send letters to maryl@patch.com.
Editor's Note: This letter to the editor was submitted to Wheaton Patch in response to some blog postings, which appeared on the site. Because some residents in Glen Ellyn are also in Milton Township, Glen Ellyn Patch is sharing this letter to the editor. Milton Township Update I was sworn in on June 12 of this year as the replacement Township Trustee. I found that while there were some issues and practices that needed attention, there was absolutely no intent to defraud or mislead the taxpayers of Milton Township. Charges of “Chicago style corruption” are a real exaggeration. While several issues have been addressed and corrective actions taken, I was surprised to see how many other charges did not tell the whole story. I don’t know …

During the recent Olympics, President Obama presented a campaign ad asserting that he wanted to increase taxes on the top 1 percent of Americans in order to help pay down the debt. Here is some simple math - a trillion is one-thousand billion. Our national debt is now more than $16 trillion. If you took all of the money from all of the billionaires in this country, this would add up to about 305.1 billion dollars - something less than 2 percent of the current national debt; AND in the time it took to collect that money and put all these people AND their employees in the poor house, the interest would have added back that amount of debt in the first place. Whether you are a liberal, conservative, or moderate, the math is the same. I am an …

I m so curious about these continued letters endorsing Rubberstamp Roskam. Someone who left the district feels this guy is doing a really good job even though he doesn't live here anymore. And another letter from someone who apparently just realized that Roskam is his 'representative.' Obviously Roskam's made a huge impression out in St. Charles. Anyway, our representative, Roskam, is too busy …   more ›
