While Lake Ellyn master plan improvements include plans to revamp and restore the Lake Ellyn Boathouse to it's 1937 design, it'll be open for normal business and rentals in 2013, according to a message on the Glen Ellyn Park District website. "The recently approved master plan for Lake Ellyn Park does not call for changes to the boathouse in 2013 and will not affect operations or rentals," the message reads. The boathouse closes mid-December through the end of February and reopens for rentals the first weekend of March. Viewfinder: Glen Ellyn Lions Club Hosts 42nd Festival of the Arts

A celebration of sight and sound at Lake Ellyn Park.

On a beautiful late August weekend, the Glen Ellyn Lions Club, in partnership with Community Bank, once  again sponsored the Glen Ellyn Festival of the Arts, held again at Lake Ellyn Park.   More than 70 artists were on hand to display their works, which included paintings in oil and watercolor, photography, jewelry, pottery and much more. Local photographer Erik Peterson, who began his photography career with images of Glen Ellyn, was one of the local favorites attending. The Lions also sponsored Paint for Fun, a supervised area for budding artists to show their creativity.   The Lions also took this opportunity to provide free hearing screening for attendees.
