Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) is among those that have been burglarized this year and the senator says he's pushing for state legislation that will help local law enforcement investigate such burglaries. "I am trying to curtail the number of residential burglaries which has swept through the western suburbs ... and other parts of the city," Dillard said during a Friday morning conference call with media members. The Village of Glen Ellyn will receive funding from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program to beautify Crescent Boulevard.
The Village of Glen Ellyn was awarded a $73,440 grant, which is will use to make improvements along Crescent Boulevard. The funding was awarded to the village as part of the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program, which will used to fund projects in State Sen. Kirk Dillard’s 24th District. A total of $923,240 was awarded for projects in the district, according to Dillard’s office. Locally, Glen Ellyn and Oak Brook both applied for funds to be used in streetscape beautification. “Each day approximately 750,000 people travel through DuPage County. Ghani of Oak Brook in the race for Illinois' 24th State Senate District. Introduced at the recommendation of DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, House Bill 5265 allows for the felony prosecution of people who attempt to lure older children into their motor vehicle while the child is traveling to or from school. A bill to create more transparency in state government, which Rep. Sandra Pihos (R-Glen Ellyn) co-sponsored was signed into law Thursday. Gov. Pat Quinn signed the legislation, which strengthens the Illinois Open Meetings Act, Thursday during a special ceremony at the DuPage County building council chambers. DuPage County Chairman Dan Cronin, along with Pihos and the bill’s co-sponsor Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) attended the event. “This new law will require all entities subject to the Open Meetings Act to provide a certain level of specificity when creating their agendas,” Pihos said in a news release.
