Fans have the chance to vote for the Hilltoppers in the Peoples' Champion contest on USA Today High School Sports.
Glenbard West Hilltopper fans you have the chance to root for the state champs again. USA Today’s High School Sports section is running an online Peoples' Champion contest to determine what teams fans think are the best of the best. The highest ranking teams from each state are represented and the two teams from Illinois represented in the Midwest are Glenbard West and Mount Carmel. The contest has three rounds and the first round is underway, launching on Monday. So, time is ticking away to vote for the Hilltoppers. The Hilltoppers meet the Falcons in the IHSA 7A quarter-finals. The Hitters remain undefeated.
The perfect season continues for the Glenbard West Hilltoppers. Saturday they meet the Wheaton North High School Falcons in quarter-final play. The Hilltoppers are 11-0 in season play and the Falcons are 10-1, with their only loss to Glenbard North. If you can't make it to the game, watch it right here. We will be streaming it live. Joe Marconi is a senior on Glenbard West's football team and his cousin JD Marconi is a senior on Wheaton North. The cousins will face each other Saturday in the IHSA quarter-final game.
When Jan Marconi cheers on her grandsons Joe and JD Marconi Saturday at the Glenbard West and Wheaton North quarter-final game, she will cheer knowing one of the boys will end the day with a heavy heart. Joe Marconi, plays for Glenbard West and his cousin JD Marconi plays for Wheaton North. The game at 1 p.m. Saturday will be the first time in high school play that the boys have met each other on the field. One of the cousins will walk away the victor, because as George Marconi, Joe’s dad, said, “There are no tie scores in football.” The cousins, who were born five days apart, are the grandson’s of the late Joe Marconi, who played on the team of the 1963 Championship Chicago Bears.
