Skuddlebutts Donating to Fire Company; SkinnySweet Grand Opening; Shop with the League

Here's a rundown of some upcoming events and promotions happening in Glen Ellyn in the next week or so.

Take out, order delivery or use Skuddlebutts to cater an event on Dec. 1 and 2 and the restaurant will donate 10 percent of its earnings to the fire company.  Whether choosing pizza or another item from the menu, the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co. will benefit. “We are always trying to contribute to the community,” said Danny Glover, the restaurant’s owner in a news release.  “This seems like a perfect way to help raise money and awareness for those who risk their lives as volunteers.” To participate, all restaurant patrons need to do is mention the Volunteer Fire Company or the Village of Glen Ellyn when placing or picking up their orders during that weekend and Skuddlebutts will make the donation. “In true Glen Ellyn fashion a thriving …

Glen Ellyn Meatheads Grand Opening Aug. 17

Meatheads will host two days of private fundraising events benefitting the Glen Ellyn Golden Eagles Football, Chicago Young Americans Hockey and Glen Ellyn Park District Soccer.

Submarine sandwiches may be the big lunch item today, but next week it will probably be burgers. Jersey Mike’s opens today in Glen Ellyn, but it isn’t the only restaurant opening its doors in town. Meatheads will hold its grand opening on Aug. 17 at its location at 549 E. Roosevelt Road. Two days prior to the grand opening, the burger joint will host private fundraising events for three local groups, Glen Ellyn Golden Eagles Football, Chicago Young Americans Hockey and Glen Ellyn Park District Soccer. Jersey Mike's Handing Out 'Free' Sub Coupons Tuesday

The new Jersey Mike's location opens Wednesday. The sub chain is holding a special fundraiser to support Glenbard West and South high schools.

Few people would pass up the chance to get a “free” lunch while helping to raise money for local schools. If you are looking for a place to dine Wednesday, and don’t mind a submarine sandwich, you need to stop by Glen Ellyn’s newest sub shop. But, first you need to get a coupon. Jersey Mike’s Subs opens Wednesday at 711 Roosevelt Road. But, on Tuesday Jersey Mike’s will be handing out coupons for a free regular size sub sandwich – with a small donation.  The coupons will be handed out from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. today at Glenbard South and West high schools, according to Glenbard High School District 87. UPDATED:Comings and Goings: Jersey Mike's Opening, Elite Feet Moving

A new Jersey Mike's will be opening in Glen Ellyn on Aug. 8. And, local dance center Elite Feet will be moving to Wheaton.

UPDATED: July 28, 1 p.m. A father and son team is opening a new Jersey Mike’s Subs *Aug. 8 in Glen Ellyn. As part of the sub shops grand opening celebration the Jersey Mike’s will be doing a free sub fundraiser in support of Glenbard South and Glenbard West high school boosters. Bud and Raj Patel own several Jersey Mike’s locations around the western suburbs, including locations in Lombard, Bolingbrook and Oswego. The newest location is at 711 E. Roosevelt Road. During the grand opening, from Aug. 8 - 12, the sub shop will be circulating 20,000 coupons throughout the community, according to Jersey Mike’s.
