From District 87: All students must return their textbooks before the school year ends. Please follow the procedure noted below. Senior Returns: Freshman, sophomore, junior returns: If textbooks are not returned by the deadline, students will be charged a fine equal to the price of a new replacement textbook. The bookstore manager will assess the condition of books. If textbooks are damaged beyond repair, students will be charged a fine equal to the price of a new replacement textbook. Seven Glenbard West, South students to compete in IHSA state final this weekend.
Seven Glen Ellyn students have qualified for the IHSA boys gymnastics state finals this weekend at Lincoln-Way East. From Glenbard South, Paul Steger, Eugene Boguslavsky will compete for the title Saturday, coached by Steve Young. Coached by Frank Novakowski, Glenbard West students Joey Mandarino, Jon McNamara, Jonah Nguyen, Luke Skala and Perry Zumbrook will compete this weekend. Information courtesy of District 87.
Eleven Glen Ellyn girls badminton players will compete in the IHSA state final tournament this weekend.
Eleven Glen Ellyn badminton players have qualified to compete in the girls IHSA state final this weekend at Eastern Illinois University. Coached by Marc Woodcock, Glenbard South students Kathryn Washam, Julie Bedoy, Allie Spontak, Jennifer Lipa, Samantha Woldman will compete for the title this weekend. Glenbard West students, coached by Karen Judge, to compete for the title include Rachel Chester, Emily Evangelist, Sarah Haggerty, Mirian Loraca, Nicole Gorcsos and Katelyn Keane. Glenbard South math team places third in 3AA division of the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) state math contest.
The Glenbard South math team last weekend placed third in the 3AA division of the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) state math contest at the University of Illinois, according to a news release from District 87. South's team, coached by Nora Rizo, Bob Dobosz and Haresh Harpalani, placed in the top 10 in all 12 events. From District 87: Glenbard South High School student Andrew Bean is a semifinalist for the U.S. Presidential Scholars program, which honors some of the country’s most distinguished high school seniors. Bean is one of 550 semifinalists chosen from nearly 4,000 candidates. Up to 141 students are chosen from among outstanding graduating seniors to become Presidential Scholars. Scholars are selected on the basis of their accomplishments in the areas of academic and artistic success, leadership and community & school involvement. Final selection of the scholars will be announced next month. Local florists create exceptional arrangements, while the master of ceremony entertains and describes the dazzling designs. This fund-raiser benefits the music programs at Glenbard South and Glenbard West. Floral Symphony will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Glenbard South, 23W200 Butterfield Road in Glen Ellyn. A new Jersey Mike's will be opening in Glen Ellyn on Aug. 8. And, local dance center Elite Feet will be moving to Wheaton.
UPDATED: July 28, 1 p.m. A father and son team is opening a new Jersey Mike’s Subs *Aug. 8 in Glen Ellyn. As part of the sub shops grand opening celebration the Jersey Mike’s will be doing a free sub fundraiser in support of Glenbard South and Glenbard West high school boosters. Bud and Raj Patel own several Jersey Mike’s locations around the western suburbs, including locations in Lombard, Bolingbrook and Oswego. The newest location is at 711 E. Roosevelt Road. During the grand opening, from Aug. 8 - 12, the sub shop will be circulating 20,000 coupons throughout the community, according to Jersey Mike’s. It's homecoming week at Glenbard South High School! The theme this year is It’s All Fun and Games. 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19: Popular games night at the football field. Games will range from relay races to dance competitions and end with a monster tug-o-war. Tuesday, Sept. 20: Students will decorate the commons area. Students will be in the cafeteria for more than two hours competing to have the best artwork drawn on the many windows and cabinets of the commons. Wednesday, Sept. 21: Students will have the opportunity to decorate the school hallways with their theme for homecoming.
