Glenbard District 87 parenting series workshop looks at the nature of creativity.
Glenbard High School District 87 will host its next parenting series event with INTOUCH (Illinois Network to Organize the Understanding of Community Health), "Creativity—What is It, Why Do We Need It and How Do We Get it Back," with Steven Fischer 12 p.m. Thursday, April 4 at Glenbard South High School. The interactive workshop will focus on the nature of and thought process of creativity. Fischer will discuss ways to nurture creativity and unique expression, and the role of risk-taking in the creative process, according to a news release from District 87. From Glenbard District 87 Students and staff at all four Glenbard District 87 high schools are celebrating Live Life Well Week from Feb. 19 through 22. Live Life Well Week seeks to inspire, raise social awareness, advance interpersonal skills and develop responsible decision-making skills. This year’s theme is: Do Well, Choose Well, Live Life Well! Events will range from a safe driving program to a healthy eating cooking challenge. Activities held during the week promote the themes of substance abuse prevention, respect and wise choices. Most parents are pleased to know their children are working hard to get into college. Once those applications get sent and the acceptance letters arrive, the reality hits: How much is college going to cost and how to pay for it? Parents and teens are invited to attend the upcoming Glenbard Parent Series program, which will feature the power of words. The program, part of the Navigating Healthy Parenting series, will feature the documentary Louder Than a Bomb, which chronicles the journey of four Chicago-area high school poetry slam teams as they prepare for an annual poetry slam. This presentation focuses on how parents and schools can help prevent suicide among teens.
