Suspects targeting homes when residents are away, police said.
Updated Saturday 9 a.m. Glen Ellyn Deputy Chief William Holmer said late Friday that investigators are looking into six burglaries with similar characteristics throughout the center of the village. Original story Glen Ellyn police continue to investigate a "series" of home burglaries that occured between September and November, and want residents to keep an eye out for suspicious people coming to their door. Grant, 32, of the 6500 block of Klingler Lane, Plainfield, was charged with drunken driving and disobeying a traffic control device after his arrest in the 600 block of Roosevelt Road around 12:30 a.m., Glen Ellyn Police said. Daniel M. Mason, 40, of the 500 block of Taylor Ave., Glen Ellyn, was charged with drunken driving and disobeying a stop sign after his arrest around 1:25 a.m. near Main and Fairview. A Glen Ellyn man faces felony aggravated battery charges after he allegedly beat another man in the head with a baseball bat Tuesday, police say.

A Glen Ellyn man faces aggravated battery charges after he allegedly beat a man in the head several times with a baseball bat, according to a press release from the Glen Ellyn Police Department. Police responded to a call reporting two men fighting in the 300 block of Duane Street around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. When police arrived the 39-year-old victim was "bruised and bleeding from the head," according to the release. The victim was transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital. Witnesses reported another resident had struck him with a baseball bat. Police arrested Joseph Martinez, 39. He was taken to DuPage County Jail, according to the release. He remains at the jail with a $20,000 bond.
