Glen Ellyn Woman's New Book Finds the Humor in Motherhood

Longtime Glen Ellyn resident, Carrie Jo Howe, will celebrate the publication of her first book at a book signing at 8 p.m. Thursday at The Bookstore.

Raising a family and being a mom and wife is not a perfect life. Motherhood is challenging and can be a lot of hard work. Yet, even in the most difficult and messiest of situations, Carrie Jo Howe has managed to find humor. Over the years, Howe, a Glen Ellyn resident for 20 years, has taken note of the funny situations she’s encountered from dating to raising her family. Now, those stories have been compiled into a book. An after-hours book-signing will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at The Bookstore to celebrate the publication of her book, Motherhood is NOT for Babies: A Story of Dating, Mating and Procreating.  The compilation of essays is meant to be funny and not mean, Howe said, adding the stories are based on “the plight we women face …

Glen Ellyn Author Shares Tips for Success Through the 'Wisdom of Walk-Ons'

Local author Paul L. Corona will be signing his new book Saturday at The Bookstore from 1-3 p.m.

In his day job Paul L. Corona’s goal is to help others improve their performance at work. As a result, those he works with learn how to perform better at work, which tends to overflow into a better home and personal life. Corona is a full-time director of learning and organizational development at Northwestern University. With all his years of experience and time spent helping others become the best they can be, he began considering pursuing a dream of his own: writing a book. On Saturday, the Glen Ellyn resident will share the result of his efforts with others. Corona’s book, The Wisdom of Walk-Ons, shares the stories of college football players who were unrecruited walk-ons. It touches on their successes and achievements and uses stories…

Tom Montgomery Fate is someone with a very busy schedule. Sitting in his College of DuPage office, Fate, an English professor of 21 years, is surrounded by shelves of books, his computer and plenty of desk space. He leads a typical modern life with working at his job, raising his family in Glen Ellyn.
