Students who receive the Dean's Award must demonstrate achievement and leadership along with maintaining a 3.0 GPA.

12 Glen Ellyn Students Named to University of Iowa Dean's List

Students from Glen Ellyn were among the 4,000 undergraduates names to the Dean's List for fall 2012.

From the University of Iowa Some 4,000 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa were named to the Dean's list for the 2012 fall semester. The guidelines for inclusion on the list are as follows: Undergraduate students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering, and the Tippie College of Business who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or higher on 12 semester hours or more of UI graded course work during a given semester or summer session and who have no semester hours of I (incomplete) or O (no grade reported) during the same semester are recognized by inclusion on the Dean's List for that semester. Glen Ellyn Student Graduates from UW- Whitewater

A Glen Ellyn student was among the 760 December graduates.

From the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Seth Holdridge marched across the stage with more than 750 other students at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater commencement celebration on Dec. 15. Holdridge, from Glen Ellyn, graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism. The registrar's office lists 760 December graduates from UW-Whitewater's four colleges and the School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education. That reflects 234 graduates from the College of Letters and Sciences, 177 from the College of Business and Economics, 151 from the College of Education and Professional Studies, 93 from the College of Arts and Communication and 105 receiving master's degrees.

Qualifying students must meet different qualifications depending on the undergraduate college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

ISAT Scoring Will Change—Fewer Glen Ellyn Students Likely to Meet, Exceed Standards

Arbitrary "cut" scores are changing to align ISAT scores with ACT and PARCC assessments. That means students' and schools' performance grades are likely to drop in the categories of English and math.

Don't be surprised if your son or daughter drops from "exceeds standards" to "meets standards" or from "meets" to "below" standards in the upcoming Illinois Standard Achievement Tests. Glen Ellyn District 41 Superintendent Ann Riebock told the School Board at its most recent meeting about the new "cut line" in the ISAT scores that measure students' achievements—as well as the achievements of their schools. District officials sent out an e-mail to the school community Friday advising of the changes and the impact on students scores. The district advised parents that the state forewarned school districts that scores will drop, and advised districts to share the information with their communities. Glen Ellyn Student Named to Central College Dean's List

Glen Ellyn resident Amanda Kuhn was named to the dean's list.

From Central College Amanda Kuhn, majoring in Exploring, earned a spot on the fall 2012 dean's list for Central College. Kuhn, a native of Glen Ellyn, is the daughter of Donald and Susan Kuhn. The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded credit hours for the semester. Central College is a private, four-year, residential liberal arts college in Pella, Iowa. Central's academic program offers 39 majors leading to a bachelor's degree, along with pre-professional programs and advising. Central was recognized in the 2011 U.S.News & World Report's annual rankings of the best liberal arts colleges in the nation.
