SkinnySweet Frozen Yogurt: Local Business Spotlight

SkinnySweet opened it's doors last year and offers self-serve frozen yogurt.

Glen Ellyn is great community that has tons of families and kids. We felt this type of community would love to have a healthy alternative to treat themselves too and have a lot of fun while doing it. There wasn't anything like our concept in Glen Ellyn and …

The Glen Ellyn Public Library brings a chef to town to talk football food. While the park district partners with a new local yogurt shop to raise funds.

We are first and 10 into the football season. What would football be without the food? Fun television, but not much of an event. All fall, the Glen Ellyn Public Library is celebrating everything football, which includes food.  The library is hosting a special program Wednesday night that will feature “Tailgating Munchies.”  Chef Dave Esau, owner of Dave’s Specialty Foods in Mount Prospect will be preparing football-themed foods and snacks for those in attendance to sample, according to the Glen Ellyn Public Library. Some of the food samples will include Cajun spice wings, spicy sausage kabobs and sweet potato quesadillas. During the program, Esau will share directions on how to prepare the foods and will send recipes home with attendees.  …

Frozen Yogurt Shop Plans Opening in Glen Ellyn

An Elmhurst couple dreams up sweet, self-serve treats

A new way to treat yourself is coming to Glen Ellyn, just in time for summer. SkinnySweet Frozen Yogurt, a self-serve dessert shop, will open its doors in Market Plaza on Roosevelt Road between Little Caesars and Panera Bread in July. Marianne Cielak-Boyke and her husband, Brett Boyke, targeted Glen Ellyn because they thought young families would connect with the health conscious treat that includes low-fat, no sugar added and gluten-free products.  The couple started working on their concept for after visiting Arizona, where they enjoyed frozen, self-serve yougurt with their three kids. Cielak-Boyke enjoyed it so much that she began working on a way to bring a similar concept to the suburbs.  A year ago, Cielak-Boyke says it was a tough …
