Glen Ellyn Mourns Deaths of Two Retired Firefighters

Retired volunteer firefighters Fred Leonard and Rodney C. Pennington died over the weekend and will be remembered in two separate services.

The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co. and the Village of Glen Ellyn are mourning the deaths of two retired members of the fire company, Fred W. Leonard and Rodney C. Pennington both died over the weekend. Leonard, 76, was the former owner of the Leonard Memorial Home and a retired volunteer firefighter on the company. He died Saturday, according to the funeral home. He served on the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co. from 1957 to 1995, according to a news release from the Village of Glen Ellyn. Leonard will be interred at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Cemetery, according to the Leonard Memorial Home. Rodney C. Pennington, 60, died Sunday, according to the funeral home.
