As a result, in March, electric customers should begin to see savings. Customers should notice no difference between the previous program and aggregation, and the village said the transition should be seamless. Residents do not need to take any action. More than 250 local governments around Illinois have proposed bringing aggregation to their communities. Aggregation allows communities to use the collective bargaining power of residents to negotiate for lower power prices from suppliers, according to the Citizens Utility Board. Glad for the reduction, which would be expected no matter who they chose. Disappointed the Village moved up their bid/selection time table from what was communicated prior to the election. It looks like NIMEC, the energy consultant recommended moving much more quickly after the referendum passed. This doesn't surprise me since they receive a cut of the energy used by residents and it is in their …   more ›

Start me up! It appears that our village officials will not rest until Glen Ellyn is clearly visible from space. Lights at the golf course, lights at the sports fields, lights for Platform Tennis, lights for skateboarding - we can't get one single street light on Lowden Avenue south of Roosevelt Road, but we will be seen on every NASA flyby from now on. The Village of Glen Ellyn is still in the process of assessing the amount of damage and the costs incurred related to the freak storm that hit earlier in July, but costs associated with the storm could reach $300,000. While the village did receive a thank you note from one grateful resident for the hard work public works employees put in to clean up after the storm, one resident concerned about slow response spoke out at the Village Board meeting Monday night. The resident said that though she never called about having branches and tree limbs removed from her parkway, she …
