A 19-year-old Lombard man is accused of planning to commit an act of violence at Glenbard East High School, officials said. Michael Santoro, of the 600 block of South Finley Road, faces one count of disorderly conduct, a Class 4 felony. He appeared this morning in bond court, where Judge Elizabeth Sexton set his bail at $500,000. Santoro made plans of a "violent nature" against his former high school during November 2012, said the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office in a press release. The plans, which were not detailed in the release, remained unknown until February 2013 when Santoro revealed his plans to an acquaintance. A Chicago man has been charged with threatening a public official, a Class 3 felony, after authorities said he made two threatening calls to the office of 42nd District State Rep. Jeanne Ives.
Stephen S. Bona, 49, of 903 W. Roscoe in Chicago, has been charged with a felony in connection with making threatening phone calls to Illinois 42nd District State Rep. Jeanne Ives, officials said Tuesday. The DuPage County State's Attorney's Office said Bona was originally charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct after leaving a threatening message at Ives' office Friday morning. An investigation has been launched to try and determine the circumstances of the death of a fetus found recently in a dumpster, officials said.
The body of a dead fetus was found recently inside a dumpster at the Yorktown Mall. Officials are now trying to determine the circumstances that led to the fetus' death and subsequent dumping at the mall in Lombard. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, Lombard Police Chief Ray Byrne and Glendale Heights Police Chief Mike Marron have launched an investigation into the death, DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office spokesman Paul Darrah said Tuesday. A former volunteer firefighter with the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co. was sentenced Friday to five years in jail for stealing more than $260,000 over the course of several years from the fire company. David Garmoe, 56, of the 600 block of Prairie Avenue, Glen Ellyn entered a guilty Friday morning. He pleaded guilty to theft in excess of $100,000, a Class 1 Felony, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office. Judge Daniel Guerin handed down the sentence. Garmoe was arrested in May 2011 and charged with allegedly stealing more than $260,000 between 2004 and early 2011 from the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co., Glen Ellyn Patch reported. A Woodridge man who worked as a trainer at Life Time Fitness in Warrenville has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse after it was determined he had inappropriate contact with a boy he was training. Robert Theodore, 60, of the 3800 block of Hagen Court, Woodridge, was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual abuse, Class 2 felonies, according to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin. If Theodore is found guilty he faces up to seven years in prison. In addition, officials are asking anyone who may have information related to Theodore to contact law enforcement. Two former DuPage Forest Preserve District employees face charges of stealing more than $100,000 from a government entity with two "elaborate" schemes over a six-year period, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin announced Wednesday. A third man, a contractor, also faces charges for stealing. Mark McDonald, 53, of the 1000 block of Childs Street in Wheaton, and David Tepper, 49, of the 300 block of Franklin Avenue in River Forest, worked in the Forest Preserve's IT department. McDonald was the director and Tepper was a manager, according to a press release from the State's Attorney's office. A Grand Jury has issued a 14-count indictment of Daniel Olaska, the DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced Thursday afternoon. Olaska is being held without bond in the stabbing death of Shaun Wild, a Naperville elementary school teacher. The incident took place early in the morning Feb. 4 at Frankie’s Blue Room when Olaska stabbed Wild, North Central football player and Lemont native Willie Hayes, and a bar bouncer.
