Court Watch: Former Glen Ellyn Firefighter Continues Plea Negotiations in Theft Case

A weekly round-up of some of the most recent court dispositions.

When former Glen Ellyn Volunteer Firefighter David Garmoe returns to court Nov. 16 in his theft case, it could be to finalize a plea.  Garmoe was arrested in May 2011 and charged with allegedly stealing more than $260,000 between 2004 and early 2011 from the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Co., Glen Ellyn Patch reported. He was arrested on May 13, 2011 and was later released on a $500,000 bond with the condition that he stay away from the premises of the fire station and that he turn over his passport to the Glen Ellyn Police Department.  Court records show Garmoe's attorney and prosecutors met with the judge to discuss plea negotiations during an Oct. 26 hearing. Interesting how the sentences were all pretty much the same, but the crimes were very different. I'm surprised that hiring someone to attack another person or running a meth lab carries the same sentence as breaking a library window.   more ›
