Court Watch: Adult Film Start Jenna Jameson Defaults; Man Pleaded Not Guilty in Shooting Death

A round-up of recent court dispositions in DuPage and Kane counties.

A Willowbrook man charged in the shooting death of a Hinsdale South High School graduate has pleaded not guilty. Juan Cuellar denied a five-count murder indictment during an Oct. 22 hearing. He remains held without bond in DuPage County Jail. Prosecutors allege Cuellar drove up on 18-year-old Joshua Holmes as he walked near the Lake Hinsdale Terrace apartments and fired six times, hitting Holmes who later died. Cuellar is scheduled to return to court Nov. 27. Cuellar's mother, 42-year-old Elva Hernandez, also pleaded not guilty this week to obstruction of justice charges. She concealed the gun Cuellar used in the shooting, according to the indictment against her. Court records show Hernandez wanted her bail reduced to $30,000, but jail …

Court Watch: Woman Gets Probation in Elder Abuse Case

A round-up of area court cases and their dispositions.

An 18-year-old Bellwood man has pleaded not guilty to attempted predatory sex assault of a child and other charges in connection to an August incident in an Elmhurst park. Prosecutors allege Nikolai Anderson, who also is charged with sexual exploitation of a child and indecent solicitation of a child, exposed himself to two girls, ages 12 and 14, and asked one of the girls to perform a sex act. Anderson denied the charges during a Sept. 26 hearing. He returns to court in November. A McCullom Lake woman has been placed on 30 months of probation after her conviction on a charge neglecting her 82-year-old mother from Naperville in 2009. Brenda Tucker pleaded guilty in June to criminal neglect of an elderly person for failing to provide …

Court Watch: Man Sentenced in Child Pornography Possession Case and More

A round-up of court dispositions from the last week.

A Downers Grove man has pleaded guilty to a burglary charge stemming from 2011 break-ins in Denburn Woods. However, Andrew Walczak's sentence won't be settled until the judge and attorneys in  the case learn how Walczak performs during his time in the county's drug court program, according to court documents. Walczak admitted to one count of burglary during a Sept. 5 hearing. He was arrested in July 2011 after a manhunt shut down the neighborhood after a police received a report of a man with a gun, who apparently fled into the woods after trying to break into parked cars. Walczak returns to court for a status hearing on Sept. 27. Kristy Wavra, the Lisle woman accused of biting a nurse technician at Good Samaritan Hospital in April, has …

Court Watch: Sentencing Set for Mother in Child Battery Case and More

A round-up of area court cases and their dispositions.

Sentencing has been set for the Elmhurst mother who pleaded guilty to aggravated battery to a child in connection to a June 2011 incident involving her son. Cheryl Luchetta had been charged with attempted murder after her she awoke to find her son unresponsive inside their Elmhurst home last year. Police and prosecutors said Luchetta drugged the boy before cutting her own throat. Luchetta pleaded guilty in July to the aggravated battery charge in a deal with prosecutors. She faces between six and 30 years on the Class X felony at her sentencing, which is scheduled for Sept. 24, according to court documents. Court Watch: Texas Man Accused of Child Sex Assault Pleaded Not Guilty

A recap of court cases from the last week in DuPage and Kane counties.

Darien: Following after her husband's plea with prosecutors, Georgina Burr pleaded guilty Aug. 27 to heroin possession in connection to their Christmas Eve arrests at a Darien gas station. Georgina Burr was sentence to 82 days in DuPage County Jail, receiving 41 days credit, and placed on two years of probation centered on drug treatment. She must complete evaluations and counseling as part of her deal with prosecutors, according to court records. Police arrested Georgina and Andrew Burr, both of Walnut, Ill., after a witness reported the couple left their children in a running car. Both entered the women's bathroom where they shot heroin, authorities have said. Georgina Burr's also pleaded to a misdemeanor count of child endangerment. …

Judge Orders Criminal History Report for 'Career Thief'

Here's a look at the cases we're keeping an eye on.

DUPAGE: Glen Ellyn: A woman once called a "career thief" by DuPage County prosecutors has asked to be placed in the county's drug court. Anne Strezewski was indicted in July on charges that include bank fraud, theft, forgery and burglary relating to incidents in May and June. She is accused of lying to her bank about a stolen debit card to get $1,400 in reimbursement for what she claimed were unauthorized purchases. Strezewski is also accused of stealing catalytic converters off vehicles in Wheaton and breaking into a home in June. During a Sept. 19 court appearance, Strezewski indicated she wanted to apply for drug court. The judge ordered a criminal history report and set the case for an Oct. 27 hearing. In Court This Week: Hearing for Murder, Lawsuit Against COD and Jenna Jameson's Breach of Contract Case

Here's a look at some of the cases we're keeping an eye on this week.

A busy week at the DuPage County Judicial Center in Wheaton lies ahead. A few of the notable cases in front of judges are those against a man accused of killing a co-worker in Burr Ridge and a police officer accused of plotting to rob a suspected drug dealer. Glen Ellyn—"Career thief" Anne Strezewski, aka Anne Rego, has a July 26 status hearing in one of her three new felony cases.  Glen Ellyn—Two civil cases involving Glen Ellyn are scheduled for hearings: the Ruisard v. In Court This Week: Cases of Attempted Murder, Murder and Theft

Here's a look at some of the cases we're keeping an eye on this week.

DuPage County Court cases this week include hearings for attempted murders in Elmhurst, for a triple murder in Darien, and for a former Clarendon Hills police officer accused of stealing weapons. Elmhurst—Cheryl Luchetta, accused of drugging her son in what might have been an attempted murder-suicide, is scheduled for a Monday, July 18, hearing. Prosecutors may ask the judge to order Luchetta to undergo a psychological exam. Hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. in Room 4010. Luchetta also has an appearance for her divorce case the same day, at 9:30 a.m. in Room 3002.
