A judge overruled attorneys' objections and will allow cameras in the trial of Willow Springs resident Johnny Borizov, set to begin next month, for a Darien triple-murder.
The trial of a man charged with plotting the murder of three Darien residents will be open to photographers and videographers, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday, a first in DuPage County according to the newspaper. Johnny Borizov of Willow Springs will be on trial beginning April 16 for the murder of Jeffrey, Lori and Michael Kramer, who were shot to death in March 2010 by Jacob Nodarse in a scheme, prosecutors allege, plotted by Borizov and meant to kill Angela Kramer, daughter of Jeffrey and Lori, sister of Michael, and father of Borizov's son. Angela Kramer was in the house at the time and survived by hiding in a closet and dialing 911, officials have said. Nodarse pleaded guilty in 2011 to a single murder count in a deal with …

Abraham Ali, a former Glen Ellyn resident, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge last week in DuPage County Court.
A Glenbard South graduate pleaded guilty last week to charges he tampered with computers at Glenbard High School District 87. Abraham Ali, formerly of Glen Ellyn, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor computer tampering, a reduced charge, on Thursday, the Daily Herald reported. In 2009, Ali used a “password sniffing” program to break into the district’s computer system to change two failing grades to Ds, according to the Daily Herald story. A DuPage County Judge held two hearings in the last week related to arrests involving Glen Ellyn resident Christopher Shukin.
A DuPage County judge has ruled a Glen Ellyn man who has been arrested numerous times in the last year will be denied bond until he undergoes a psychiatric evaluation. Christopher Shukin, 22, of the 400 block of Hill Avenue, was most recently arrested in November in Glen Ellyn in connection with public indecency. In October, he was arrested in Wheaton after being tasered. He was charged with criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct—breach of peace, disorderly conduct—peeping Tom and resisting arrest. Shukin has been arrested 10 times since November 2011, according to a story in the Daily Herald. A Downers Grove man has pleaded not guilty to charges he sexually abused a 16-year-old girl in October and November. Brian Turner, 45, was arrested Nov. 24 and indicted Dec. 13 on multiple counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse tied to encounters between Oct. 26 and Nov. 22, records show. Turner remains in DuPage County Jail on $100,000 bail with a hearing scheduled for Dec. 27. The Chicago man accused of robbing a gas station in September wants a judge to throw out evidence in his case because police violated his rights. Nicholas Muniz was arrested after reports he inappropriately touched teen girls at Target store in St. Charles.
A Glen Ellyn man has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery charges stemming from his arrest in St. Charles earlier this year. Nicholas Muniz, 24, admitted to three battery counts during an appearance in Kane County court this week. His plea did not come with an agreement with prosecutors on sentencing. He is scheduled to return to court Dec. 27 for a status hearing, according to prosecutors. Muniz was arrested in connection to May incidents at a Target store in St. Charles where he made inappropriate contact with three teen girls. He had also faced disorderly conduct charges. The Dec. 17 hearing for Joseph Spitalli's arraignment in his murder case has been pushed back after a request for cameras in the courtroom was filed. Spitalli is charged in the November murder of a man dating Spitalli's ex-girlfriend. ------------------ A motion has been filed seeking extended media coverage of Spitalli's arraignment. The judge set a Jan. 9 hearing on the media request, while scheduling the arraignment for Jan. 14, records show. Ali Akel recently pleaded guilty to aggravated battery as part of a hate crime attack inside a Woodridge gas station in 2011. Akel was sentenced to two years of probation and 364 days of work release from DuPage County Jail, according to court records. He will also spend time in a West Chicago …

The third of four men charged in a July 7-Eleven robbery has pleaded guilty for his part in the incident, records show. Antwan Jones agreed to a deal with prosecutors, who dropped several other counts, but still faces sentencing on the remaining robbery charge. He is scheduled to return to court in January. In the last two months, two co-defendants - Antonio Finley and Steven Gayden - pleaded guilty to robbery. Both were sentenced to prison time with recommendations for a prison boot camp. Gayden is housed at the Sheridan Correctional Center, while Finley has not yet been assigned. A four man, DeShaun Wilson, is scheduled for a Dec. 12 hearing. A second man charged in a July 7-Eleven robbery has pleaded guilty for his part in the incident, records show. Antonio Finley, 21, pleaded guilty to a robbery charge and was sentenced to six years in prison as part of a deal with prosecutors, who dropped several other counts against Finley. He was given credit for four months in DuPage County Jail and received a recommendation of a prison boot camp, which could shorten his prison time. In October, 17-year-old Steven Gayden was sentenced to four years in prison in connection to the robbery. He also was given a boot camp recommendation. A grand jury has indicted a Lisle man on telephone harassment and aggravated battery charges stemming from an October incident involving a high school volleyball game. John Kasik is accused of leaving threatening messages for his daughter's volleyball coach at Lisle High School, and later bumping the school's athletic director during a meeting. Kasik is free on $300,000 bail with a scheduled court appearance - at which he will likely be arraigned - on Nov. 19. The former Naperville Library Board president charged earlier this year with stealing nearly $26,000 from an area homeowners association recently pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge. A Virginia man convicted last month of attempted predatory sexual assault of a child and sexual exploitation wants a new trial, court records show. Priyang Parikh awaits sentencing, but has filed a motion claiming he should be granted a new trial because of pre-trial errors by the judge and because jurors were not given the option of public indecency as an available lesser offense for consideration. The jury found Parikh guilty of exposing himself to a young girl at a 2010 wedding in Elmhurst. A young girl, and other children, chased Parikh out of the hotel after he took the girl into a side room under the pretense of giving her candy. She opened her eyes to see Parikh exposing himself, according to prosecutors. He faces a minimum of four …
