Court Sentences Fourth Man in Cocaine Drug Ring to 16 Years in Prison

Alfredo Garcia, 36, of Bolingbrook, was one of seven people arrested in July 2011 in a drug bust at La Playa Cantina.

A Bolingbrook man who was part of a drug ring and busted with three kilos of cocaine in a Glen Ellyn restaurant in July 2011 was sentenced Monday to 16 years in prison. Alfredo Garcia, 36, of Bolingbrook, was found guilty in August of one count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The Super X Felonies were punishable by 15-60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Garcia was the fourth to be sentenced from the seven-member group suspected to be involved in the drug ring, according to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin. Bond Set For Seven After Glen Ellyn Drug Bust

Four kilos of cocaine were seized after Thursday's raid at La Playa Cantina.

Seven are facing felony charges after multiple law enforcement agencies raided a Glen Ellyn restaurant and seized $120,000 worth of cocaine. The seven arrested in the drug bust at La Playa Cantina appeared in bond court Friday and each are facing charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. If convicted each of the individuals could face 15 to 60 years in jail.   Bonds were set at various amounts ranging from $750,000 to $1.5 million.   It is unclear if any of the individuals are out on bond. Officers Make $120,000 Drug Bust at Glen Ellyn Restaurant

Multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at the La Playa Cantina restaurant at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies seized $120,000 worth of cocaine at a Glen Ellyn restaurant this morning.  At 9:30 a.m. Thursday, about 20 law enforcement officers arrested seven individuals after executing a search warrant for narcotics at La Playa Cantina located at 690 Roosevelt Rd. in Glen Ellyn, according to officials.  The DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group, a multi-jurisdictional task force that cracks down on drug trafficking, directed the bust after watching the restaurant for a month.
