A round-up of recent and bizarre police report items from the area.
You know those monolithic human figures carved by the Rapa Nui people from rock on the Chilean Polynesian island of Easter Island between the years 1250 and 1500? Yeah, those things. Well, a 4-foot tall one was taken from the front of a Geneva home recently. We are not making this up. Someone stole the “Easter Island Head” sculpture from the front yard of a residence in the 2200 block of Pepper Valley Drive sometime between 6 p.m. Nov. 16 and 7 a.m. Nov. 17, Geneva police reports said. The 4-foot cement statue had an estimated value of $100. The following arrest information was supplied by the Glen Ellyn police department. It does not indicate a conviction.
DUI: While on patrol officers performed a traffic stop at Roosevelt Road and I-355 on May 22 at 1:26 a.m. According to the report, Rocky H. Gonzalez, 41, of Wheaton, was charged with driving under the influence and was issued traffic citations for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Criminal damage to vehicle: Officers responded to a damage report in the 400 block of Montclair Avenue on May 22 at 2:22 a.m. According to the report, a complainant advised officers that she heard a loud noise and observed an individual running from a vehicle with a shattered windshield. Sugar in Your Gas Tank A resident on the 300 block of Pennsylvania Ave. reported to police that sometime between 9 p.m. on April 1 and 5 a.m. the next morning, someone had pried open the gas cover on their car and poured sugar into the gas tank. While there is no reason to believe the case is related, another resident of the 100 block of Park Blvd. reported the same thing to police in February. Object Thrown Through Window A resident on the 500 block of Main St. reported to police that between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 27, someone threw an object through his apartment window, breaking two panes of glass. Fighting at Glenbard West Two 18-year-old students at Glenbard West were issued Village Ordinance citations for Fighting on March 23 around 8:30 a.m. The officer was on patrol at the school and was informed that there was a fight in the hallway. Graffiti While on patrol on March. 25, and officer saw graffiti on the south side of an apartment building on the 100 block of Surrey Dr. Cannabis An 18-year-old from Cicero was issued a Village Ordinance citation for possession of cannabis on March 26 at 675 Roosevelt Rd. The officer was on patrol when he/she smelled to odor of burnt cannabis.

Here are a couple of items from the Glen Ellyn police blotter.
Assault Ryan W. Clark, 28, of the 100 block of Briar St. was charged with Assault on March 20. The officer was called to the station for a domestic report. Clark was also found to have an outstanding warrant in Kane County and was transported to DuPage County Jail. Domestic Battery Laura Zidek, 29, of the 100 block of E. Foster in Roselle was charged with a two count complaint of Domestic Battery on March 21. Police were called to the 400 block of Main St. in reference to a complaint. Zidek was transported to DuPage County Jail.

Retail Theft A 17-year-old juvenile from Lombard was issued a Village Ordinance citation for Retail Theft-Shoplifting on March 22 around 4:30 p.m. Police were dispatched to a Dominck's at 880 Roosevelt Rd and made contact with the juvenile there. Vacuum Theft Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Royal Glen Dr. to investigate a theft report. The victim told police that sometime between 11 p.m. on March 23 and 12 p.m. on March 24, an unknown person had stolen a vacuum cleaner from an apartment she was cleaning. The vacuum was worth over $300.

Here's an item from the Glen Ellyn police blotter.
Glen Ellyn police were called to the 600 block of Kenilworth Ave. on March 15 around 10:45 a.m. to look into a report of criminal damage to a resident's property. The resident told police that Daniel J. Truesdale, 27, and James B. Truesdale, 62, both of the 1000 block of Madsen in Wheaton, had come onto his property and tried to cut one of his trees down. Both Truesdales were given Village Ordinance citations for Criminal Damage to Property. Police discovered a tree stump and a 20-foot-long tree and said the men wanted the wood for a project they were working on.
