Teen Parent Connection
739 Roosevelt Rd, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137
Sometimes teen parents are lost, confused and scared. Sometimes they have never made their own doctor's appointments,More much less one for their baby. That's a big reason why Teen Parent Connection exists. "These are parents that are very isolated," says Becky Beilfuss, executive director of Teen Parent Connection, of the teen parents the agency serves, adding that the organization aims to both prevent child abuse and help teen parents become self-sufficient. The not-for-profit agency serves teen parents in DuPage County, offering childbirth and parenting skills classes and guiding teens through GED preparation and college applications. Teen Parent Connection also has a pantry that offers diapers, wipes and other baby necessities to parents who can buy them with "baby bucks," which they receive for attending classes and doing other things affiliated with Teen Parent Connection. Many teens find their way to the organization through referrals from health departments, but the agency also welcomes drop-in parents looking for assistance. Teen Parent Connection also welcomes donations of diapers, wipes, clothes and other baby necessities from the public.
