With dozens of bottles of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon tucked in nooks throughout the store, WineStyles is…More designed to feel like your personal wine cellar—but with the added benefits of ample space for cocktail parties, too. WineStyles is part of a national chain, but William and Kim Dozier, owners of the Glen Ellyn franchise, give customers a localized, personal feel by hosting wine tastings three days a week and by having staff on hand to offer seasonal suggestions. When there isn't an official tasting going on, WineStyles always has one or two bottles open and ready for those wanting to sample.
The Doziers group their wine by taste, so that crisp wines, for example, are sold in a specific part of the store. They also recently added beer selections to their shop, including bottles of Domaine DuPage French Country Ale made by Two Brothers Brewing Company in Warrenville. If you want to enjoy a bottle of purchased wine immediately, the store even has a barrel-shaped chilling station. Wine delivery is available in the Glen Ellyn area for $10. Opened three years ago, the store also sells wine-bottle accessories and hosts private parties.

Great Clips may be a national salon chain, but this franchise, independently owned by Gopal Gehi, gives its customers…More a friendly, personal feel. Gehi notes that he has nine stylists with a combined 130 years of experience. A few, he says, have been styling hair for at least 20 years. At a corner of Pickwick Plaza on Roosevelt Road, Great Clips accepts walk-ins from kids to seniors. In fact, kids 10 and younger and seniors 65 and older receive a discount, with haircuts for $10 instead of the standard $12. A shampoo is an extra $3.
Included in each haircut or style is a brief, free consultation with each stylist. And though the haircuts may be inexpensive, the surroundings don't feel cheap. The store features sleek, multicolored partitions and comfortable salon chairs. In addition to haircuts, Great Clips also offers formal styling, beard trims, perms and conditioning treatments. "We have a great crew," adds Gehi, whose daughter, Roshni, often serves as the receptionist. "And we're always having fun."
