DOWNERS GROVE Police at 12:09 a.m. April 27 responded to a disturbance outside a business on the 2100 block of 63rd Street. After it was over, police were approached by an unknown woman who said there was a man inside the bathroom with a serious injury. The man had a visibly swollen lip and appeared somewhat dazed. He had a large bump on the back of his head and a small amount of bleeding, but did not remember anything. SUNDAY, APRIL 28 James Piske, 49, of the 200 block of North Montclair, Glen Ellyn, was charged with criminal trespass to a residence and resisting/obstructing an officer. Piske was arrested at 12:05 a.m. on the 500 block of Phillips Avenue. SATURDAY, APRIL 27 Jerry Haynes, 34, of the 1200 block of Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, was charged with driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while license revoked, improper lane usage and obstruction of identification. The Lombard teen was expelled in September for bringing a 30-inch replica weapon into the Glen Ellyn high school; his stated intent was to trade it.
A Lombard teenager and former Glenbard South High School student who was expelled in September for bringing a 30-inch club into the school has pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of a weapon, avoiding any chance of a felony conviction, the Daily Herald reports. According to the paper, Steven Allen, 17, was sentenced to conditional discharge for a year, plus 100 hours of community service and a DuPage County Jail tour. His defense attorney, Tim Martin, said that the boy was a history buff and only made the Native American-style wooden club in order to trade for a coonskin cap. “He's grateful to the state [and] is lucky he has a new lease on life without a felony conviction,” Martin told the paper, adding that the boy has …

BURR RIDGE Someone at 9:50 p.m. March 29 reported a suspicious person walking a leash without a dog on the 100 block of Tower Drive. Upon arrival, police saw a male place a dog into his vehicle. There was no criminal activity, police said. CLARENDON HILLS A woman at 3:48 p.m. April 24 found two kids' target arrows in her back yard on the 300 block of Ridge Avenue. Police found that some children next door play "Harry Potter with bows/arrows," according to a police report. An officer spoke with parents at the children's address and advised them of the proper ordinances and supervising their children's safety. This is an ongoing issue between neighbors, the report said. A man is charged with production or possession of more than 20, less than 50, marijuana plants.
A Bloomingdale man is charged with production or possession of more than 20 marijuana plants, DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba announced Thursday. Detectives on Wednesday arrested Joseph Angelo, 29, after officials followed an anonymous tip he was operating a sophisticated cannabis growing operation inside the residence, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. Officials found 42 mature plants and a number of juvenile plants in the basement of the home, along with growing equipment and other drug paraphernalia.
