What started as a meeting between eight Christian men in 1886 along the Tennessee–North Carolina border turned into the Church of God, a denomination devoted to Biblical doctrine and scripture, individual growth and the encouragement of evangelism throughout the U.S. and the world. Since then, the Church of God, a Pentecostal denomination, has spread to 150 countries and has more than six million members. The Church of God Great Lakes Regional Office, located near Glenbard South High School and just north of Park and Butterfield roads, serves dozens of Church of God churches in Chicagoland, Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. The office is led by M. Darrell Rice, Administrative Bishop.
