Believe it or not Stainless Steel has been around now for 25 years. Historically speaking, stainless steel became popular with the high end restaurant styled appliances like Viking, Wolf, Thermador & Sub Zero.
Although stainless steel is still the popular color I get asked if there is something else to choose from. The answer is yes, but not a lot. Brands like Viking and Blue Star have a rainbow of colors, but these are brands that the main stream consumer wouldn't buy or can't afford. With that said, General Electric and Whirlpool have introduced some options.
GE has introduced Slate, a rich looking neutral color with accents in stainless steel. While Whirlpool has introduced White Ice & Black Ice also utilizing stainless steel accents on sleek black or white mid-range appliances. You can check out these and more at Young's Appliances
