Saturday, Sept. 21

Up for a little drinkin' this weekend, are you? Well, what if we told you that you can get a little tipsy—with a ready-made designated driver? And, the best part is, you can do all of that while raising money for a great cause. Yep, it's a pub crawl.

The very first DuPage County Pub Crawl to benefit veterans will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and go all day and night. Your $25 wristband donation includes the designated bus driver, who will get you to and from 21 DuPage County Bars, a free T-shirt for those who pre-registered, and a chance to win up to $2,000. Proceeds benefit the Villa Park VFW Post 2801 and Save-A-Vet.org.

If a pub crawl is not your thing, bring the family to Harvest Festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Lombard Historical Society, 23 W. Maple St. We're talking old fashioned corn roast and barn dance here, fun for the whole family. Enjoy square dancing, a live band, face painting, craft beers, food from local farms, custom-made sausage and more. Admission is free and food and beverage tickets will be available for purchase. The event is hosted by Prairie Food Co-op, in partnership with the historical society. If you're not familiar with Prairie Food Co-op, be sure to check it out.

Have you tried Meatheads yet? The Glen Ellyn location, 549 Roosevelt Road, will celebrate its first year and will be giving away free kids meals to children 12 and younger with the purchase of any regular priced sandwich from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
