Newcomers' Celebration of Tables charity event for Glen Ellyn Food Pantry - March 15th

On March 15, 2014, the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry is teaming up with the Glen Ellyn Newcomers for a unique fundraising event, A Celebration of Tables.  The event showcases 20 themed tablescapes, styled by Newcomers’ members to celebrate hospitality and the joy of entertaining.  The event is like walking into a “live” Pinterest with tablescapes ranging from classic and formal to fun and whimsical.

This is the third year that Newcomers has held the event, but the first year they are teaming up with the Food Pantry.  The Food Pantry is a non-profit organization that serves thousands of people every year who need food assistance in Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Glen Ellyn, Lisle, Lombard, and Wheaton.  In 2013, the Food Pantry served approximately 17,500 individuals including 4,900 families.  For the past couple of years, the Food Panty has seen an increase of needy families by 20 percent, with its emergency food distribution rising over 60 percent in recent months.  With this increased need, the Food Pantry was excited to be chosen by Newcomers to benefit from their event.

The Glen Ellyn Newcomers is a women’s social organization with over 500 members from Glen Ellyn and surrounding communities.
