Technology Fair, Village Board Retreat, Business Leaders Forum: Events This Week

MONDAY, AUG. 5

Village Board Retreat: The village board will hold a strategic planning workshop and retreat at the College of DuPage. The special meeting will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Student Resource Center.  

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 7

Technology discussion: Representative Sandra Pihos will host a free discussion about how smart phone help make tasks easier, while keeping people connected. The event is being held 10 a.m. at The Carlisle, 435 E. Butterfield Road, Lombard.

FRIDAY, AUG. 9

Fresh fruit and more: The farmers market is held every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 30. The market is located in the Main Street Parking Lot between Hillside and Duane streets, south of the railroad tracks. What you’ll find: produce, flowers, organic meats, baked goods, jewelry and more.

Business leaders forum: The Glen Ellyn Business Leaders’ Forum will hold a meeting at The Meadows. The group is comprised of members of non-competing businesses who collaborate to help refer business leads. The meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. Contact Rick Lofgren for more information at 630-469-7100.

SATURDAY, AUG. 10

Annual garage sale: The Raintree Neighborhood will hold its annual garage sale starting at 9 a.m. The subdivision is located near The Village Links golf course on South Park Boulevard between Roosevelt and Butterfield roads. The multi-family sale will include furniture, children's furnishings and toys, tools, housewares, appliances and more.
