Five Things to Do This Week in Glen Ellyn and Nearby

Best-selling author, kitchen seminar, theater performance—who says you can't have fun during the week?

We found five things happening in Glen Ellyn and Lombard that can make the week a little more fun.

1. The Glen Ellyn Woman's Club welcomes best-selling author Melanie Benjamin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, to the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St. She will discuss her long-time best seller, The Aviator's Wife. Admission is free.

2. It's Open Mic Night at Honey Café on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Take that talent from your shower to the stage. Signup starts at 6:30 p.m., with the first performance at 7 p.m. Honey Café is at 499 N. Main St.

3. The Kitchen Studio of Glen Ellyn is hosting a free Tips and Trends Kitchen Seminar at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the showroom, 522 Crescent Blvd. Owner and award-winning designer will help pinpoint unique solutions for your space and money-saving tips. 4. Vertical Gardening and Hydroaquaponics will be the topic of Friday's Lombard Garden Club meeting, at 1 p.m. at Lombard Commons, 433 St. Charles Road. Who says gardening has to end when the weather goes bad? Admission is free.

5. The award-winning play, Joined at the Head, is playing at Glen Ellyn Theatre Guild, Park Boulevard and Butterfield Road, at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. Tickets are $18.
