Glen Ellyn School-Supplies Program Celebrates Five Years

The Glen Ellyn-based District 41 and District 89 program expects to provide about 1,000 kids in need with school-supplies kits this year.

Supplies 4 Success, the Glen Ellyn program that provides school-supply kits to kids from low-income families, is celebrating its fifth year of service as the need for the program shows no signs of subsiding, the Suburban Life reports.

According to the paper, the program expects to deliver about 1,000 kits in 2013 to kids in District 41 and District 89, funded by the nonprofit Partnership for Educational Progress Foundation.

“It’s important that we take care of our own in Glen Ellyn, and it shows students and students’ families that we care about their education,” Supplies 4 Success founder and D41 mom Karen Evans told the paper.

She added the distribution of supplies is designed to be as anonymous as possible: “They’re not singled out, which I think is important… We want to help, but we don’t want to embarrass anybody in the process of helping either.”
