Icy, Slick Roads Reported in DuPage County Monday

The National Weather Service in Chicago is warning motorists about the possibility of slick roads—including black ice—in DuPage County this afternoon.

In a special weather statement, National Weather Service officials said that cold temperatures have allowed for minor snow accumulations and black ice on roadways.

"Motorists are advised to use extra caution out on the roadways early this afternoon as road conditions have been reported to be icy and slick in parts of the area," according to the special weather statement.

Visibility could also be reduced to a half-mile or less at times due to the snow combined with winds of 25 to 30 miles per hour.

The special weather statement is also in effect for Cook, Lake, McHenry, Boone, Kane, Kendall and several other Illinois counties, according to the NWS.
