Labor Day weekend kicks off in downtown Glen Ellyn on Friday, Aug. 30, with the third annual Sounds on the Street end-of-summer party, from 7 to 10:30 p.m.
Enjoy a free, live concert by Local Favorite at 8 p.m. on Main Street, between Hillside and Duane. School of Rock's youth band will perform at 7 p.m., and the adult band at 7:15 p.m.
Five Glen Ellyn restaurants will serve up their finest for you to bring out to the street, so plan to stop in at Tap House Grill, Santa Fe, Fire & Wine, Blackberry Market, Shannon's and Cab's Wine Bar Bistro.
Attendees who wish to drink alcohol during the event will need to have their ID checked to obtain a wristband. Alcohol is prohibited outside. Some picnic tables will be set up along the street, and attendees are welcome to bring their own fold-up chairs.
Dr. Carlos and Health Sources will offer free chair massages and screenings, too.
Sounds of the street has seen increased attendance since it was first held in 2011. Last year, more than 2,000 people enjoyed this end-of-summer event.
