Fourth of July Activities Still On for Wednesday

Glen Ellyn will go forward with the summer's holiday events.

Although many suburbs have canceled fireworks and Fourth of July activities, Glen Ellyn's Wednesday events are still planned.

"All systems are go!" said Glen Ellyn Police Chief Phil Norton. 

Fourth of July activities kick off with the Freedom Four Four-Mile Run at 8 a.m. at , followed by the parade at noon. Before fireworks light up the sky, families are invited to Lake Ellyn Park for games, music, face painting and food between 1 and 4 p.m.

Fireworks will blast off around dusk at Lake Ellyn Park. Committee members remind residents that no sparklers or candles are allowed in the park. Remember, no stakes or rocks to hold down blankets and be mindful of landscape plants.
