Hall of Famer Gossage, Baseball Great LaRussa Being Honored Sunday in Lombard

Baseball fans have the opportunity to rub elbows with baseball royalty at the Pitch and Hit Club of Chicago banquet Sunday.

Glen Ellyn baseball fans don’t have to travel far this weekend to have the chance to meet and eat with some of baseball’s legends.

The Pitch and Hit Club of Chicago is hosting its 67th Annual Awards Banquet Sunday at the Carlisle Banquet Hall in Lombard. Among the honorees in attendance will be Baseball Hall of Famer Rich "Goose" Gossage and Tony LaRussa.

The Pitch and Hit Club banquet is the longest running and only winter baseball banquet in the Chicago area, according to the organization. Proceeds from the dinner benefit baseball-related organizations, including Cubs Care, Chicago White Sox Charities and the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation.

The event will be emceed by longtime Chicago sportscaster Tom Shaer and baseball organist Nancy Faust will play throughout the evening, according to the organization.

The banquet is being held January 27 at the Carlisle Banquet Hall at 435 E. Butterfield Road, Lombard. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for autographs, a memorabilia show and pre-dinner hospitality. Dinner will be served at 6:00.
