Glenbard West's Alex Diab Wins All-Around Gymnastics Title
Despite being only a freshman, Diab edges defending state champion and senior Ajani Cargle from Lincoln-Way co-op, 56.7 to 56.35.
Glenbard West freshman Alex Diab won the all-around title during Friday's IHSA boys gymnastics championship at Lincoln-Way East in Frankfort.
Diab had a bit of a mishap on vault which reduced his score to an 8.85 but that didn't keep him from producing a 56.7, which was just enough to knock off defending all-around champion, Lincoln-Way co-op senior Ajani Cargle, who had a 56.35.
Diab registered the top score of the night on four events: still rings (9.7), high bar (9.65), parallel bars (9.65) and pommel horse (9.45).
