Glenbard West Girls Take 9th, Glenbard South Boys 11th at State Cross Country Meet

Hilttoppers' Perez and Raiders' Wold each place 29th individually.

Count coach Paul Hass' Glenbard West's girls cross country squad among the top 10 teams in Class 3A following its ninth-place finish at Saturday's state meet held at Detweiller Park in Peoria.

Meanwhile, in Class 2A, the Glenbard South boys team and coach Andy Preuss got nudged out of a top-10 finish by Chatham, which ended up with 283 points, compared to the 11th-place Raiders (286).

Freshman Madeline Perez set the pace for Glenbard West, taking 29th overall in a time of 17:28 over 3 miles, while, Maddie Jagle, a junior, came through the chute as the Hilltoppers No. 2 finisher (45th overall, 17:43).

For the Raiders, freshman John Wold clocked in as the team's top finisher. He clocked in at 15:19 for 29th place.

Both Perez and Wold needed to place among the top 25 runners to earn all-state medals.

Senior Collin White was next to cross the finish line for Glenbard South with a time of 15:39 for 57th place.

In the Class 3A boys race, Glenbard West junior Mike Lederhouse ran 15:19 for 86th place. He was the only Hilltopper boys' state qualifier. There were no state qualifiers from the Glenbard South girls team.
